About the event
Join us upstairs during “Our Family, Our Feast: The CommUNITY Dinner” for a special community painting project led by artist Suliman Onque in partnership with the Newark Museum of Art. This free, interactive experience invites community members of all ages to contribute to a collaborative canvas honoring Newark’s rich LGBTQ+ history and the individuals who helped shape it.
The artwork will feature tributes to Sakia Gunn, Ashley Moore, Rodney Gilbert, James Credle, and Shani Baraka—five visionary leaders whose lives and legacies continue to inspire our community.
No artistic experience is necessary. Whether you add a brushstroke, a color, or a message of love, your contribution becomes part of a lasting tribute to our collective story, resilience, and power. All are welcome to participate.
